As outside general counsel, my goal is to add value by providing insights and advice across traditional business, legal, and strategic lines.  Working alongside my clients to get a deep dive into understanding the nuances of the different drivers, risks, and goals of the business, including internal and external dynamics, is both fun and rewarding.  I love the intellectual puzzle of developing creative solutions and being able to draw from my wide range of prior experiences to bring a fresh perspective to a client’s team. 

Given my real-world experience working in-house on executive teams and leading strategic initiatives, I have a pragmatic feel for identifying solutions that will be impactful and persistent. I often am asked to help navigate across internal silos and help to identify opportunity areas and gaps. Whether it’s a purely legal issue, or a hybrid issue with communication or collaboration or revamping established processes, this consistently has led to improved performance and outcomes for my clients.

I serve as a sounding board for the Board of Directors, owners, executive team members, senior managers, and other stakeholders, who proactively involve me on all levels of strategic and operational issues, and have looked to me to bring an unbiased perspective. By thinking creatively and collaboratively early in the planning process, rather than using me solely on a transactional basis to implement the mechanics of settled decisions, we are able to come up with more effective solutions and approaches, better identify potential obstacles and issues, and then fine tune and pivot as new circumstances and facts inevitably arise.
